This is a post-professional master's program for people who want focused, design-driven research beyond what traditional professional degrees cover. Its mass timber specialization examines practice and project delivery involving newer wood and bio-based building systems.
The plan has three six-hour studios in design, research and capstone work, along with five three-hour courses on collaborative methods, design tectonics, project communication and executive issues, which brings the credit requirement to thirty-three. Every course is taken in a full-time format, with terms running across fall, spring and summer.
Graduates are prepared to carry out applied, implementation-oriented research and to function effectively on interdisciplinary teams. The architecture degree itself serves as a platform that can host several specialization options, of which mass timber is the one described here.
