Overview
The Applied Ethics Undergraduate Certificate consists of 12 credit hours and can accompany any major. It is taught on campus and helps students handle hard decisions with careful reasoning.
After completing core ethics courses, students select an area of emphasis, such as legal topics, healthcare, ecology or social justice. They can also connect ethics to other subjects, such as religion, depending on their interests and goals.
Sessions are built around conversation. Students argue over difficult questions and listen to views different from their own. The instructors bring expertise in ethics as it relates to business, law and health care, and the program page features a podcast discussion with a university professor about ethical leadership. The certificate is useful in nearly any career, since every field presents choices that call for sound judgment. Classes meet at the Main Campus, with fall and spring start dates.
