AA/AS in Computer Science

The Associate in Science in Computer Science at Chabot College is an academic program built around the lower-division requirements for a computer science major. It is also intended to satisfy most university transfer requirements toward a bachelor's degree in that discipline and neighboring fields. The department's courses serve other audiences as well. Working programmers can use them to upgrade their skills, and students majoring in business, biology, physics, engineering, geology, mathematics and similar disciplines take them as part of their own programs. Career information on the page notes that computer scientists work across business and industry, in areas such as banking, telecommunications, multimedia, education, publishing and law. Possible fields for graduates include systems analysis, software design and maintenance, tech support, documentation writing, testing, systems and network administration, database administration, security and research. Program maps and requirements are available through the college catalog.
