Overview

Chemistry at Chaffey College offers an associate of science for transfer, with a University of California transfer-path variant, and prepares students for four-year study or employment. Classes run in the day and evening at the Chino, Fontana and Rancho campuses. Students learn chemical language and symbolism, analytical reasoning, testing of hypotheses and laboratory methods. Laboratories include instruments such as NMR, GC-MS, FT-IR and gas chromatography equipment. Beyond coursework, students can join the Women of STEM group and the Pre-Med Society, both open to all majors. The chemistry coordinator and faculty are the main contacts. Program maps outline recommended courses for transfer, and the department invites students to contact the coordinator or the STEM main office for guidance on classes, labs and research opportunities. Questions about courses can go to the department contacts.
