BA/BS in Computer Science

Computer science is a Bachelor of Science taught in the School of Engineering and Computing. The curriculum centers on how software is theorized, designed, and built, preparing students for graduate study or for employment in business and in research science. Required courses include introductory programming, data and file structures, software engineering, C++, programming language concepts, operating systems, algorithms, and digital logic, alongside a mathematics requirement. Additional upper-level computing credits give students room to follow their own interests. Students from other majors can choose a minor in the subject. Programming and problem-solving skills developed here transfer to many sectors, and the department encourages graduates to consider technology roles across industries. Students are encouraged to meet an advisor early to plan their courses across semesters.
