BA/BS in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering

Electrical engineering is a Bachelor of Science in the School of Engineering and Computing. Students design and build electrical devices and systems, relying on a base of mathematics, science, and computer applications. After a common core in chemistry, physics, economics, and calculus, students take engineering courses in communication systems and complete a capstone project. Electives total at least twelve credits, and students must finish one of three emphasis areas: digital systems, signal and communications work, or instrumentation and control. The program targets careers in telecommunications, power systems, and robotics. The degree is accredited by an engineering accreditation commission, as noted on the program page. The program is delivered on the Christopher Newport University campus in Newport News, Virginia, where students work closely with faculty. The full course list is in the undergraduate catalog, and the department can answer questions.
