BA/BS in Economics

Economics is a Bachelor of Arts in the College of Social Sciences. It studies how people, businesses, and governments allocate resources, and gives students grounding in micro and macro theory. Coursework and research develop analytical skills for public policy questions. Students can tailor their studies through subject areas in economic policy, international economics, and mathematical economics. A minor is available for students in other majors. Graduates may move into finance, consulting, public policy, and related careers. The program is delivered on the Christopher Newport University campus in Newport News, Virginia, where students work closely with faculty. The full course list is in the undergraduate catalog, and the department can answer questions. Students are encouraged to meet an advisor early to plan their courses across semesters.
