AA/AS in Biology, General

Biology courses at Cosumnes River College attract a mix of students. A number are working through clinical classes on the way to nursing or other allied health fields, while others are finishing the opening years of a biology major before moving to a university. The transfer degree assembles the lower-division classes that California State University campuses generally expect, giving graduates priority admission at junior standing in a biology or related bachelor's program. Students targeting the University of California should know this route may leave gaps, because UC biology majors can demand more chemistry, physics and mathematics. Planning those extra classes with a counselor is wise. Each track, whether clinical, transfer or general education, uses its own set of required courses, so reading the lists closely pays off.
