AA/AS in Chemistry

Chemistry classes at Cosumnes River College are organized to fit the transfer needs of students majoring in chemical, physical or biological sciences. The offerings also serve students in other fields, and one course helps people who need a refresher on basic chemical concepts. All chemistry courses have a hands-on laboratory portion where students run experiments in a well-equipped lab. The department highlights its instructors, class sizes small enough for plenty of contact with faculty, and a support program called Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement. The associate degree in science covers typical lower-division expectations for a chemistry major. Students may complete it using either Cal-GETC or the local general education pattern. Degree maps are posted for prospective majors, and the college points out that the required program amounts to a substantial number of units.
