AA/AS in Economics

Economics explains how people, firms, governments and entire societies choose among competing uses for scarce resources. It equips students to evaluate decisions as small as a household budget or as large as public programs and environmental policy. The transfer degree at Cosumnes River College fulfills the broad transfer requirements of the California State University system and carries priority admission at junior standing. Students complete a required core and then select courses from approved lists. Those hoping for a bachelor's in economics at a CSU school should consult a counselor about the lower-division preparation that school expects. Major classes require a C or better, and a pass also counts. According to the department, the discipline teaches students to analyze how households, businesses and governments employ resources over time.
