Cert in Mathematics

This Cuyamaca College program develops mathematical skills in demand across many jobs, including analyzing data, solving problems, spotting patterns and working with statistics and probability. Students begin with a calculus sequence and continue through the major courses. Researchers, quality-control workers in manufacturing and informed citizens all rely on these methods to reach solutions from tables, graphs and reports. The aim is either university transfer, job preparation in a technical or professional field, or both. The associate degree adds general education, while finishing the major alone earns the certificate. Students should meet with a counselor to confirm prerequisites, decide the order of classes and see how the units count toward other certificates or degrees at the college. Careful sequencing helps people finish in a reasonable time while balancing work and other commitments.
