Overview

Anthropology for transfer asks students to reflect on the human condition and on how societies create meaning. The coursework spans archaeology, cultural anthropology, and the study of human biology and evolution. Along the way students learn about civilizations and cultures from earlier eras and from today, and about the diversity of customs and worldviews within and between groups. They also trace how conditions have shaped human populations and surroundings over deep time. This is an associate degree for transfer, so finishing it positions a student to continue at a California State University campus with the lower division groundwork already done. To earn it, students need at least a 2.0 average in transferable work, a C or better in every major course, and verified general education completion. Students should meet with a counselor to plan courses and confirm requirements at the school they hope to attend next.
