AA/AS in Biology, General

The Biological Sciences program offers a wide range of courses, including lecture classes, lecture-lab combinations and an online hybrid course. Many are available during regular semesters, and some are regularly offered in summer. Students take biology to complete requirements for a transfer major, to satisfy general education, or to prepare for vocational programs such as Nursing. The page highlights strong retention and success rates among biology students. The department is in the Math, Science and Kinesiology division. Its page links to degrees and certificates, courses and transfer pathways, and it names faculty members, including the department chair. Prospective students can consult the college catalog, the class schedule and the academic calendar, all linked from the department page. They are also encouraged to contact the division office listed there for guidance on course planning, degree requirements and the steps involved in getting started at Golden West College.
