AA/AS in Computer Science

Computer Science at Golden West College teaches students how computers can be used to study and reshape information. Learners write step-by-step instructions in programming languages to solve a range of problems. The program aims to ready students for careers such as programmer, computer scientist, systems analyst and data processing manager. A newer associate degree designed for transfer in this field launched in Fall 2023 for students planning to move on to the California State University system. Students interested in specific destination universities are encouraged to talk with the Transfer Center. The department is part of the Business and Career Education division. Prospective students can consult the college catalog, the class schedule and the academic calendar, all linked from the department page. They are also encouraged to contact the division office listed there for guidance on course planning, degree requirements and the steps involved in getting started at Golden West College.
