BA/BS in Education, General

The education studies major gives students an interdisciplinary, ethically grounded foundation in educational theory within a liberal arts setting. It prepares future teachers and education professionals to consider classrooms through the psychological, political and educational needs of students. Experiential learning is central, both locally and abroad, and the college's location gives access to internships at federal agencies and national nonprofits. Majors may take up to twelve graduate credits that count toward the bachelor's degree, which shortens the route to a teaching master's through the combined five-year option. Students can look into study abroad through brief faculty-led courses abroad or full-semester exchanges, explore internships for credit, and use career resources for job searches and graduate or professional school applications. Faculty advisors and the department chair act as points of contact for prospective students, and the college invites visitors to share their interests so it can send relevant information.
