Economics at Lewis & Clark offers a major and a minor that give students an analytical toolkit for complex economic, political and social questions. Graduates earn a BA.
Students learn to apply theory to form hypotheses, gather data, use data-driven, quantitative techniques to evaluate them, and present results in different formats. The interdisciplinary curriculum opens with the field's basic methods and questions, then lets students choose among international, public policy and theory concentrations or follow a general economics path.
Research is encouraged at every level, including work as faculty research assistants, collaborations with faculty and independent projects. Many students also earn credit abroad.
Offered at Lewis & Clark in Portland, Oregon, the major sits alongside a wide list of other majors and minors, so students can pair it with another subject and build a broader liberal arts education.
