Chemistry at Lewis & Clark has a large complex of teaching, lab and study rooms and by research funding from federal agencies and several foundations.
The curriculum is organized into analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry so students gain a firm grasp of the whole field. Faculty work closely with students in class and in the lab.
Students take part in research at every level, first assisting professors and later conducting studies of their own through Independent Study, Senior Research and the Rogers summer research stipend program. Graduates leave able to draft grant proposals, evaluate scientific papers, think numerically and collaborate.
Because Lewis & Clark is a liberal arts college in Portland, Oregon, students in this area are encouraged to explore connected fields, add a minor and seek out research, internships or study abroad alongside their coursework.
