BA/BS in Computer Science

Computer science at Lewis & Clark is treated as a liberal art, covering everything from machine architecture and abstract models of computation to building and maintaining large software systems and understanding computing's place in society. The department offers two majors, one in computer science and one combining computer science with mathematics, along with a minor and an optional cybersecurity concentration. The curriculum builds a firm foundation in computing fundamentals before moving to the construction of complex software. Department life extends beyond class through a regular colloquium featuring students, faculty and visiting speakers, social gatherings, and student teams that enter programming and cybersecurity competitions. The department aims to welcome every student and help them build skills for a better future. Offered at Lewis & Clark in Portland, Oregon, the major sits alongside a wide list of other majors and minors, so students can pair it with another subject and build a broader liberal arts education.
