BA/BS in Mathematics and Computer Science

This major allows students to blend computer science with applied mathematics without taking two separate majors. Coursework stretches from theoretical mathematics to its uses in areas such as analyzing data, forecasting the economy and modeling how diseases spread. Learning is hands-on from the first days, in small classes led by committed faculty. Students can take part in research and internships that prepare them for the workplace. Most graduates start work right away in medical research, international banking, software or logistics, and a number build their own consulting practices. The major belongs to the College of Arts and Sciences, where many students add another major or minor. A leadership program and semesters abroad are also available.
