The Biomedical Sciences Medical Program at Old Dominion University's Virginia Health Sciences is a post-baccalaureate master's degree designed for students aiming to enter medical school. It is offered in a one-year and a two-year format. Much of the coursework consists of medical school classes taken alongside first-year medical students, plus a preparation course focused on interviewing skills and on understanding the other professionals physicians work with. Students gain patient exposure through standardized patient experiences, mock interviews with feedback, and individual and small-group advising. The program helps motivated students strengthen their academic record in a demanding setting, and it can also support applications to dental and other health professions programs. The two-year option adds MCAT preparation. Credits cannot be transferred toward the degree, and applicants must already have completed an undergraduate degree at a regionally accredited school.
