MA/MS in Biology, General

The Master of Science in Biology at Old Dominion University lets students shape a course of study around their own research interests, spanning botany, ecology, immunology, infectious disease, marine biology, microbiology, physiology, reproduction, systematics, and zoology. Two specially designed concentrations, Medical Microbiology and Immunology and One Health, are available for students with those aims. Research and teaching take advantage of the Kaplan Orchid Conservatory and several off-campus field sites, including coastal ecological preserves and marine laboratories on Virginia's Eastern Shore. A program of study is developed by each student with an advisory committee and the graduate program director. Graduate teaching and research assistantships may be available, and applicants apply through the Graduate School. A scholarship for graduate students in the department is also funded through an endowment.
