Cert in Fine and Studio Arts

Orange Coast College offers this specialization for students who want a working grounding in ceramics. Study centers on how clay and glaze behave together, how a studio is organized and kept in good order, and how production is handled at an industrial scale. The sequence opens with a history of the medium and moves through beginning, second-level and intermediate studio courses before ending in a course on narrative in clay. Some of the classes run only once an academic year, so the plan of study spreads the work across four semesters. The goal is to prepare students to work at a basic level inside the ceramics community and to be hireable in beginning roles in the field. This credential is not eligible for financial aid.
