Prof.D in Veterinary Medicine

This professional major in veterinary medicine is offered at Corvallis. The catalog page for the program focuses on what graduates need to practice in Oregon, so the information here concerns licensure rather than the course of study. Licensure requires a degree from a veterinary school with AVMA accreditation, or an equivalency certificate for foreign graduates, together with a pass on the national veterinary licensing examination and an Oregon jurisprudence exam on state veterinary laws and rules. Applicants with little experience in the United States first need an intern permit and work under an Oregon-licensed veterinarian. Certain long-practicing veterinarians may request a waiver of one of the examinations by documenting that they meet the listed conditions. Prospective students should consult the program's own admissions pages for application details.
