AA/AS in Communication and Media Studies

Communication Studies at San Diego Mesa College examines how people exchange ideas and how media and technology reshape attitudes. It serves students seeking an associate degree as well as those fulfilling general education needs. Students sharpen reasoning, argument, and public speaking, abilities that carry over into nearly any career. Humanities faculty lead the courses. Optional co-curricular work includes the college's competitive speech and debate squad, which travels to tournaments and builds a close community of peers. The program prepares students for transfer or for communication-centered work. The coursework is useful for students in any major who want to present ideas persuasively and listen carefully to others. Prospective students can find requirement details, course lists, career information, and faculty contacts through the program's own page when planning their path. Interested applicants can also request information or arrange a campus visit there.
