AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

The Accounting Associate in Science readies students for entry-level accounting jobs and also lays groundwork for transfer to a bachelor's degree program. The accounting program holds accreditation from ACBSP, a business education accrediting body. Students complete a core covering accounting procedures, financial and managerial accounting, spreadsheets and QuickBooks, plus electives in areas such as payroll, tax, governmental accounting, financial statement analysis and ethics. General education and electives bring the total to the associate degree requirement, and a minimum grade of C is expected in major courses. Possible careers include accounting clerk, staff accountant and human resources assistant. Students needing a shorter route can consider the related accounting certificate, which shares the same core courses and may be completed before moving on to the associate degree.
