Overview

The Early Childhood Special Education certificate prepares students to support young children in inclusive and special education settings. Study covers child development and teaching practices, and it ends with a supervised practicum. Before the practicum, students must pass a Live Scan background check, which carries a vendor fee. The related early childhood education programs offer further options. The certificate is a compact sequence of required courses that can be completed on its own or later applied toward a related degree at the college. It suits students who want job-ready training without committing to a full two-year plan. Prospective students should look over the course list in the catalog and check with a counselor about how the units fit their plan. Advisors at the college are available to answer questions about planning and next steps.
