PGCert in History

This graduate-level credential in public history serves professionals and educators who want to advance in the field without committing to a full master's degree. It is offered by the history department in person or online. Students take one core public history course and complete the rest through electives on topics covering tourism tied to heritage, digital media, museum work and geographic information systems. The certificate comes in two versions, one for working professionals and one for teachers, and a separate certificate prepares teachers of dual credit United States history. Credits may connect to the public history master's degree for those who later decide to continue. Federal loans and grants do not cover this certificate, so the page points students to assistantships, fellowships and private loans.
