AA/AS in Computer Programming

This associate degree at SUNY Schenectady centres on writing code for interactive games. Coursework covers building websites, learning programming languages and assembling an online portfolio showcasing their game design pieces, alongside classes in mathematics, business, science and the humanities. The program is built as a stepping stone. It supplies the courses normally taken during the opening two years of a bachelor-level gaming degree, and a transfer agreement with SUNY Poly lets graduates continue into its Interactive Media and Game Design bachelor's degree. Outcomes focus on designing and developing games with game engines and mobile platforms, applying math and physics to game mechanics, and weighing the historical and business sides of the industry. Interested applicants may look over the posted plan of study to learn which courses are required and how they might be sequenced, send an inquiry to the college, or start the application from the same page, and a listed staff member is available for questions.
