Overview
Newhouse offers this major for students interested in how entertainment gets conceived, managed and produced. Students explore how image, sound and movement tell stories in forms ranging from animation and documentary to games, sport and podcasts.
A student selects from seven concentrations, among them cinematography, screenwriting, sports media, entrepreneurship and a self-designed option. Business instruction accompanies creative training so that ideas can become a livable career.
Production takes place in television and multimedia studios equipped for news, film and visual effects work. The Bleier Center and the Orange Television Network add resources. Students may spend a term in Los Angeles, studying industry topics while interning and meeting alumni, and may aim for roles such as producer, writer, director of programming or entertainment lawyer.
