Overview
This engineering major combines math, chemistry, physics and materials science to create processes that convert raw materials into safe, effective products.
The sequence starts with fundamentals of problem solving, science and design, and the problems become more demanding each year. Before graduating, every student completes a substantial design project, gaining the fundamentals needed to practice as an engineer or continue to graduate study.
Faculty research covers health-related smart materials, energy and sustainability materials, and regenerative and rehabilitative engineering, and undergraduates are invited to join. Students may belong to a chemical engineers' society and a global health group. A five-year path adds an MBA, and a 4+1 plan leads to a graduate chemical engineering degree. The program is accredited, and alumni work at Pfizer, DuPont, Unilever and Procter & Gamble.
