AA/AS in Drama/Theatre Arts and Stagecraft

Theatre and Musical Theatre at Tyler Junior College is a two-year program offering performance and technical opportunities, including roles in main stage productions during the school year. About fifty majors enroll each year. Two associate of arts options are available. The theatre emphasis gives a well-rounded experience, with courses suited to performance, technical theatre or education. Musical theatre majors take a sequence in theatre, voice and dance and build skills in classrooms, workshops and varied performances. Related activities include student theatre groups, children's productions and a travel study trip to New York City. The theatre box office opens one week before each show. The department chair, who is also a speech and theatre professor, is the listed contact. Students interested in either path can expect regular rehearsal and production work, and the department also runs events open to the community.
