Overview

Doctoral work in nutrition belongs to the university's school for public health and runs inside its public health doctoral structure. Students learn scientific methods for understanding and solving human nutrition problems that affect populations. Each student's plan reflects individual professional goals, and emphasis can fall on biomedical science, clinical practice, community programs, education or public health policy. Graduates advance knowledge through research and apply it through policies and programs. Doctoral students have priority for teaching jobs, and faculty help them seek outside research funding. The coursework is organized so each student can balance scientific training with professional development. As a doctoral degree, it centers on independent research under faculty guidance. Prospective applicants should check the program page for the current deadlines and application steps before applying through the Graduate School.
