PGCert in Cognitive Science

Cognitive science examines how minds and other cognitive systems work, and it draws on more than one discipline. At this university, five departments have been the main contributors: psychology, philosophy, linguistics, computer science and communication disorders. Those departments have received joint foundation funding, share federal research and training grants, and sponsor a long-running faculty seminar involving all five area colleges. Graduate students regularly cross departmental boundaries for classes and research, and colleagues at the other Five College campuses often help train them. This breadth makes the certificate attractive to students whose interests do not fit one department.
