Culinary Arts is taught through the Wine Country Culinary Institute and readies students for jobs in food service, hospitality and running their own food businesses. The associate degree builds basic and advanced skills in safe food handling, cooking technique, baking and pastry, garde manger, nutrition, dining service and restaurant management.
Students learn from chefs, demonstrations, guest speakers and labs, and they gain real experience in a student-run kitchen, pop-up food trucks and catered events. A culinary club and internships round out campus life.
The curriculum emphasizes farm-to-table ideas, global cuisines and sustainable sourcing. Graduates are ready to enter professional kitchens. Classes are held on the Walla Walla campus. Prospective students can contact the department listed on the program page, and the college financial aid and scholarship offices can explain ways to fund study.
