BA/BS in Biology, General

Walsh's Biology major introduces students to how living organisms grow, function and develop, with an eye toward research, medicine and education. Students work in well-equipped laboratories and learn from faculty who hold doctorates and combine teaching with active research. Majors choose from a broad range of electives and may specialize in environmental science. Undergraduates often join faculty and graduate students on projects covering topics like health care and water purity, and they gain practical experience through internships and summer research. After graduation, students can enter master's or doctoral programs in biology and related fields, take laboratory roles in product development or quality assurance, or apply to professional schools in medicine, pharmacy and dentistry. Walsh's faculty combine laboratory expertise with a commitment to teaching, and the major keeps options open for medical and research careers.
