BA/BS in Communication and Media Studies

Walsh University's Communication major suits students who enjoy writing and storytelling across personal, public and media settings. The curriculum covers public speaking, rhetoric, interpersonal exchange and mass media including film, television and online channels. Students pick one of four emphases: advertising and public relations, broadcast, digital media or print journalism. Coursework is paired with internships and service projects so theory is tested in practice, and the department keeps a strong focus on ethical communication in line with the university's mission. New labs let students work on design, video, audio and podcast production. Graduates look toward journalism, public relations, broadcasting and similar roles at newspapers, agencies and nonprofit organizations. Small classes and a mission-driven approach keep the focus on both skill and character.
