Cert in Data Analytics

This undergraduate certificate shows students how data is collected, how to turn a business question into an analytic problem, and how to select suitable methods and build models that can be deployed. It runs through the information systems department. The plan pairs a statistics course with several analytics courses covering data modeling, business analytics and structured data analysis or visualization. Students then add one upper-level elective with advisor approval, and that course may come from the business college or any other college on campus. Students in the business finance concentration may swap in a finance modeling course or a visualization course for two of the usual requirements. Altogether the certificate comes to eighteen credit hours, made up of fifteen in the core and three in the approved elective, so it can be added to another program of study.
