BA/BS in Physics

Physics at Whitworth is taught in the Department of Engineering and Physics, which provides a rigorous grounding in the natural sciences within a Christian liberal arts setting. The department lists a Bachelor of Arts major in physics alongside a B.S. physics option and related majors such as applied physics and biophysics. The curriculum builds a foundation in physics and pairs it with training in professional communication and ethics. Faculty mentor students individually and challenge them to work academically at a high level. The stated aim is to prepare graduates for meaningful work in which they study the laws of nature and design solutions for human needs. Students who want a heavier mathematics and laboratory load can look at the department's B.S. options, and those interested in engineering can explore the engineering major or the pre-engineering transfer route described on the same page.
