BA/BS in Education, General

The Education Studies major pairs a wide liberal arts base and a connected sequence of teacher preparation courses leading toward initial licensure in Massachusetts. Theory is balanced with fieldwork throughout. Students gain classroom experience through practicum placements at different grade levels and in urban, rural and suburban schools. Preparation for the state educator licensure test is built into the program at several stages, and passing it is required for the initial license. The program is intended for students who want to teach and make a lasting difference in the lives of learners. The program is taught at Worcester State University in Worcester, Massachusetts, and is an undergraduate course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. Students move through a structured sequence of required and elective courses, and faculty advisors help them plan each stage of their studies.
