PGCert in Student Counseling and Personnel Services

The Certificate in Addictions Counseling is open to both matriculated and non-matriculated students and focuses on the core competencies involved in helping people recover from substance use disorders. Courses come from the departments of Health Sciences, Criminal Justice and Psychology, giving students content knowledge that maps to competencies set by the state public health bureau responsible for substance abuse services. The university is recognized by that bureau as an approved provider of addictions education, and the certificate can enhance a student's existing degree. The program is taught at Worcester State University in Worcester, Massachusetts, and is a postgraduate course of study beyond the bachelor's degree. Students work with faculty advisors to plan their studies and to connect coursework with their professional aims. Prospective students can request information, arrange a campus visit or begin an application through the university's website.
