Leeds Beckett University is a public university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England.
Its roots trace to the Leeds Mechanics' Institute, founded in 1824, which grew alongside other Leeds institutions including the Leeds College of Art, Leeds College of Commerce and the City of Leeds Training College. These were brought together as Leeds Polytechnic in 1970, renamed Leeds Metropolitan University in 1992, and became Leeds Beckett University in 2014.
The university operates across two campus areas in Leeds: City Campus and Headingley Campus. Teaching and research are organised into eight schools: Leeds School of Arts, the School of Built Environment, Engineering and Computing, Leeds Business School, Carnegie School of Education, the School of Health, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Leeds Law School and Carnegie School of Sport.
It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, research and apprenticeship programmes, with over 253,000 alumni from over 166 countries.
