Associate Degree in Land Surveying (Part-Time)

In Barbados, qualifying as a licensed land surveyor runs along one of two tracks, and this part-time associate degree is connected to the first of them. That track involves completing a full bachelor's degree in geomatics, for instance through the University of the West Indies, or another approved land-surveying qualification, then undertaking a period of supervised attachment with the Lands and Surveys Department before sitting the licensing examination administered by the Land Surveyors' Board. The second, degree-free track instead has candidates article for several years under a practising surveyor, complete a similar attachment, and sit the same examination, provided they meet minimum secondary-school subject requirements covering English, mathematics, and related sciences. Studying the associate degree part-time lets students work toward this broader professional pathway in surveying while continuing other commitments, using the qualification as a recognised academic foundation on the way to full licensure.
