Certificate in Introduction to Robotics & Coding

Introduction to Robotics & Coding is a short certificate run jointly by Barbados Community College's Computer Studies and Technology divisions. It responds to the expanding global robotics sector, where machines are increasingly handling repetitive work such as cleaning and transportation, and gives learners a first practical exposure to how such systems are built. Coursework moves students from early design concepts through to assembling and testing a working robot, so the certificate covers both planning and hands-on construction rather than theory alone. Python is used as the programming language throughout, giving participants a concrete tool for controlling and automating the devices they build. The certificate is aimed at anyone curious about technology and automation who wants a hands-on entry point into robotics, pairing basic coding with physical building in a single short course.
