Architectural Technician is a two-year Ontario College Diploma at Algonquin College, delivered by the Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence and combining architectural design with construction science. Students progress from residential to commercial construction across four levels, developing skills in working drawings, construction methods and materials, building codes and standards, AutoCAD, Revit, visual communications, building design, and environmental systems. An optional co-op stream adds one or more paid industry work terms to the program, with students typically earning between $7,000 and $10,000 per work term. Graduates pursue roles in architectural offices, construction firms, engineering offices, municipal agencies, and facilities management, and may progress to Algonquin's Architectural Technology Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Science (Building Science) degree program. The program is taught in facilities equipped for both residential and commercial-scale design work.
