Heritage Carpentry and Joinery is a two-year Ontario College Diploma focused on the preservation, renovation, and restoration of historical architecture. The curriculum covers traditional joinery, timber framing, log building, carpentry techniques, architectural millwork, staircasing, and window and door repair, and includes more than 950 hours of hands-on applied learning. Students train on campus in a dedicated facility and work on projects connected to a network of heritage conservation partners, gaining exposure to real restoration sites alongside classroom and workshop instruction. Additional program costs include tools and personal protective equipment beyond standard textbooks, reflecting the hands-on nature of the trade. The program prepares graduates for skilled trades roles restoring and maintaining heritage buildings, including work with conservation authorities, restoration contractors, and heritage property owners.
