Practical Nursing Pathway for Personal Support Worker is a two-year Ontario College Diploma that prepares experienced personal support workers for practical nursing roles, giving them the knowledge, skills, and judgement to contribute to a healthcare team and support patient-centred care. Instruction combines classroom, lab, and simulation learning with on-campus simulation labs providing realistic patient-care scenarios, alongside clinical placements in hospitals, long-term care facilities, community agencies, and retirement homes. The pathway is open to applicants who already hold PSW credentials and recent PSW work experience in Ontario, allowing them to build directly on existing clinical experience rather than starting nursing study from a general entry point. Graduates become eligible to write the REx-PN licensing exam and the jurisprudence exam to register as a practical nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, opening a path into regulated nursing roles across hospital, long-term care, and community settings.
