This four-term diploma from Bow Valley College prepares students to support children, youth, families, and communities in meaningful, ethical ways. Coursework covers diversity and inclusion, advocacy, mental health, social policy, and trauma-informed and reflective practice, combined with research projects and supervised field practicums that build direct client-care experience. Students develop skills in relationship-building, crisis response, and community-based intervention across a range of settings. Graduates are prepared for entry-level roles in group homes, shelters, treatment centres, youth justice settings, schools, drop-in centres, and summer camps, or as family and youth support workers. Practicum placements give students supervised, hands-on experience applying classroom learning in real child and youth care settings before graduation. The program runs on a Fall intake cycle and is open to both domestic and international students.
