Overview
The Bachelor of Technology in Electronics is designed for electronics technologists (or equivalent) who wish to complete a degree while working and gain skills for job promotion. The program provides you with the knowledge and skills required to design electrical, computer, automation and communication systems. You'll take courses in engineering statistics, scientific computing, thermodynamics, feedback control, electric machines, and more. Upon graduation, if you intend to pursue registration as a Professional Engineer, you can apply to Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia for acceptance into the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) program. This acceptance will require passing specified confirmatory exams.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry to the Electronics Bachelor of Technology (part-time) requires BCIT's Category 2 English standard, English Studies 12 at 67% or equivalent, plus one of: a BCIT diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology with a minimum course average of 65%; a diploma from another nationally accredited related engineering-technology program at 65% or better; for applicants averaging 60-65%, three of ELEX 7010, 7020, 7030 or 7040 completed at 70% or better; or an equivalent post-secondary education with registration, or eligibility to register, as an Applied Science Technologist. A minimum of two years' relevant work experience prior to graduation is required. Under BCIT's institute-wide policy, Category 2 is equally met by IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 5.5) or TOEFL iBT 4.5 with every section at least 3.5 (legacy scale 86, no section below 20). Applicants should contact the program for a pre-entry assessment before applying, and those outside Canada, the US, UK, Australia or New Zealand need a comprehensive international credential evaluation. Three annual intakes run in January, April and September.

Openings are 9:00 am and deadlines 11:59 pm Pacific Time, moving to the next business day on a weekend. Admission is not institute-wide rolling, but many programs work first-qualified-first-accepted and can fill before the posted deadline, and several programs, mostly in Health Sciences, trades and graduate studies, run entirely separate application tables of their own. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
