Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology Diploma is a diploma in Information Systems & Technology programme taught at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada. The programme runs for 2 years, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 15,200 per total for local students.
Several two-year diploma streams build a strong foundation across automation, instrumentation, power systems and telecommunications, combining theoretical study with lab-based practice, training tied to industry and paid co-op work terms. The Automation and Instrumentation stream centres on systems for measurement and control used across industrial equipment, Power and Industrial Control covers PLC programming, electric machines, system protection and renewable energy, and Telecommunications and Networks focuses on designing and testing modern communication systems including fibre optics, satellite technology and wireless networks. Graduates may continue into further study, pursue a second diploma, or move into industry roles spanning commercial and industrial sectors.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: This program's own landing page states that entrance requirements for first year are listed on the entrance-requirements page shared by every Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) option, since all options share a common first year before a competitive second-year specialization. Per that shared requirements page (read here via the Electrical Power and Industrial Control option), admission sits in BCIT's Category 2 English band, met by English Studies 12 at 67% or equivalent, or by Category 2 international scores (IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band under 5.5, TOEFL iBT 86 with no section under 20, PTE Academic 60 with no skill under 60, or Duolingo 120 with no integrated subscore under 95) per BCIT's institution-wide English Language Proficiency page, plus Pre-Calculus 12 at 73% or MATH 0001 Technical Mathematics at 73%, Chemistry 11 at 67%, and Physics 12 at 67% or PHYS 0312 Technology Entry Physics 2 at 67%. International applicants meet the same academic prerequisites and additionally require a valid study permit before starting.
