Trades - Apprenticeship in Carpentry: Apprenticeship at British Columbia Institute of Technology in Burnaby, Canada is a trades - apprenticeship in Trades programme. The programme runs for 4 years, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition is CAD 4,100 per total for local students.
This apprenticeship trains carpenters in the assembly and erection of falsework and concrete forms, wood- and metal-frame construction, and interior and exterior finishing work across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The in-school component totals 840 hours across four seven-week levels, beginning with an introduction to wood-frame construction, safety, tools, and scaffolding in Level 1 and progressing through further skill development in Levels 2 to 4; classes run weekday mornings at the Burnaby campus. Apprentices must also complete 6,360 workplace hours with a sponsoring employer over the roughly four-year program. On completion, apprentices earn a BC Certificate of Apprenticeship, a BC Certificate of Qualification, and the Interprovincial Standard (Red Seal) Endorsement, allowing their credential to be recognized across Canada. Entry requires active registration with SkilledTradesBC, and a Grade 10 education including English 10, Math 10, and Science 10 is recommended, with high school graduation preferred; the program is restricted to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.
